In the first chapter of this series we were discussing the Afghan hound and have given a brief history of the origin and classical and modern standards of the Afghan hound. In this post we will discuss the temperament and how is it to live with Afghan hound.
Temperament of the Afghan hound
One thing about the Afghan hound is crystal clear, there is a hunter inside and with this heart of a hunter, it seems like Afghan hound is always in hurry. Being an ancient basal breed used for game and living with nomadic Afghan tribes, Afghan hound has evolved to be a fairly independent, aloof, strong-willed and stubborn dog breed. As I have mentioned in my earlier posts, different strands of the Afghan hound dog breed have been used as the guard dog to protect the flock of nomadic Afghan tribes they have evolved to be fierce. The Afghan hound is cautious and wary of strangers; they will fiercely defend their territory. The Afghan hound is a brave dog there is no question about it. A dog hunting prey and protecting flock is expected to be so. Well, those things are okay but the real problem arises when Afghan hound choose to arrogantly ignore the wishes and command of their owners. At first new owners tend to enjoy this behavior but as the Afghan hound grows and becomes stronger this poses a big problem or we can also call it a threat in some situations. But one can’t help it this is one of the traits of the Afghan hound.
So, is it a really big problem?
Yes, it is.Is this situation is unanswerable?
