So, without any further delay let’s get started…

For Dog-Owners, most important 3 points.

  1. Visit your vet prior: Dogs go through a lot of anxiety attacks because of the noise of the fireworks. So consulting your veterinarian would help. You may get the prescribed anxiety medicine so that your dog remains in control when the fireworks start off outdoors.

  2. Maintain some distance from the earthen lamps: Keep the earthen lamps from a distant place from your pooch. This would help you to reduce the occurrence of a fire accident. I know that Diwali is the festival of lights but the safety of your pet is also important.

  3. Take out the last bar of energy: Take your dog for a long walk so that they get exhausted. Make sure that they are exercised properly and just as a precaution step. Take them out before the fireworks go on bursting. As we say that an exhausted dog is a happier dog than that with energy. This would help them to be a bit relaxed when the fireworks would start to go here and there. We always want our dog to be relaxed in such an overwhelming situation. Also, make sure that they have a spot where they can do their private business, you understand what I mean, right? Because going out during the celebration could be a risky task.

Few more points to consider for dog parents.

  1. Be with them if there is excessive noise: As we have already told that high noises are not healthy for your dog. There is one more thing that we want to tell you. Being around loud noises can higher up the anxiety levels of your dog and higher anxiety can make the heartbeat of the dog go up really fast. It is recommended that a known person or a person in whom the dog believes and loves should be with the dog to make them calm. This could lower down the anxiety levels of the dog.

  2. Keep them in cool surroundings: Keeping them in a cool environment would make them way more comfortable and pleased. To reduce the sound of the fireworks you can shut the doors and windows. Also put cotton balls inside the ears of your dog to trick them as if there is no noise coming from outside.

  3. Read their body language: Every being has his or her comfortable spot, where they love to sit. Read your pooch’s body language and try to figure out what they want and where they feel comfortable to sit.

For Dog-Lovers

  1. You can keep food and water around: If you are a real dog lover and care for every dog around you then believe me that this act would bring you much happiness. What you have to do is really simple. Keep some resources of food and water outside your home or your society. This would help the strays out there to get the food and water resources when other people would be busy in celebrating the festival.

  2. Spray some lavender mist: This would not be possible for every dog lover. If this is possible for you then please do spray some lavender mist around your home or your society. It helps the dogs to make themselves calm and compose. In addition, it would smell really nice so it could be a benefit for you too.

  3. Teach kids how to deal with dogs: Though you would be a dog lover but it could not be possible for you to go for the help of each and every stray dog. So it would be really good if you could spread some knowledge about dealing with the stray. This will help kids or some other people act in their welfare.

Conclusion.

Celebrating Diwali with lights all around is a tradition. But neither the religion nor the tradition tells us to burn the fireworks we do every year. The fireworks act is a pollutants, we all know that, right? But the smoke left behind is poisonous for the birds. If we stop the burning of the fireworks we could save our money, from which we can do welfare of any being. Secondly, we can end up saving mother nature which we never keep in mind while buying those heavy explosives. So it is my humble request that while buying the crackers next time you should go through above points about the environment, dogs and other animals around you.
