you can clearly see the condition of the head wound is extremely deteriorated. I was worried about this super red dragon flowerhorn baby because it seems that the wound has deepened and widened to reveal the skull bone inside. At this point, by my experience of fishes for past 12 years, I was pretty much skeptical about its recovery.

Cure for the Super Red Dragon Flowerhorn White Spot disease

One thing that I realized was my fault in this case but then I tried everything to save it. As a cure for the white spot disease, it is usually recommended to add a little of sea salt into aquarium along with the usual anti-itch medicine. Maybe because of my insecurity I might have poured salt in the aquarium much more than that is required. This amount of salt that is added for curing different fish diseases is variable and is dependent on the fish and volume of the water. The head growth of the flowerhorn fish is fleshy that is the scales covering the head of the fish are not as prominent and fully developed as the scales covering the body. This is the reason that led me to believe that maybe because of my mistake the problem of flesh-dissolving over the head of my new super red dragon flowerhorn was escalated even more than that was expected. In the context of anti-itch medicine, I always prefer to use the medicines manufactured by the Rid-All manufacturers of aquarium medicines. There are many brands available in the market that produce and sale anti-itch medicine but my personal favorite is the Rid-All aquarium medicines. As far as I am concerned I have used multiple brands earlier considering the lower price but once I have started using the Rid-All branded aquarium medicines I was convinced that there is nothing better than this available in common market.

Additional to this you need to do a few things more.

Immediately change the water on the first signs of the appearance of the white spots. White spots actually appear when the infection is already a few days old. At first, very minute white dots appear on the gills and on the fins. It takes a very short time for this infection to escalate. Within 10-12 hours the whole body of the fish will be covered in these small white dots. Even at this point, this infection is treatable with precautions. Past this stage, these dots will develop into big spots and from this, it is extremely difficult to revive the fish suffering from the white spot disease.

But if in any case you were not able to recognize the disease in the early stage and the white spot disease had already escalated to form big white patches all over the body then it is not the wise decision to do any changes in the water as this will further stress the super red dragon flowerhorn or any other fish under consideration. In such cases please add the recommended amount of the Rid-All anti-itch medicine and leave it for two to three days. Rid-All Anti itch medicine will start showing its results in as less as 4-5 hours. After you see that the big patches have been reduced to smaller patches to just white dots then take the decision to make the water change according to the condition of the fish. In doing so please remember to change the whole aquarium water completely and wash the aquarium with soap. Then add fresh water and pour recommended amount of the Rid-all anti-itch medicine for three more days. In this time period, the fish(the super red dragon flowerhorn in this case) is expected to make the complete recovery from the white spot disease.

During this whole recovery time please increase the temperature by two-degree centigrade. This will help to kill microorganisms causing the white spot disease in flowerhorn.

Caring for recovery from the Flowerhorn White Spot disease

Due to the Rid-All anti-itch medicine, the white spots will completely disappear in a couple of days. After this, the fish will start to recover. To speed up the recovery process you can use the Rid-All general aid medicine. This medicine will speed up the recovery time of your fish (in this case we are talking about the super red dragon flowerhorn). The addition of this medicine(Rid-All general aid) will provide the fish with some vital nutrients to speed up its metabolism and general recovery. I have placed my super red dragon flowerhorn fish in completely new water and added recommended amount of the Rid-All general aid medicine. In this environment, I kept it for 14 days or two weeks before making any changes in the environment of the fish. After two weeks when my super red dragon flowerhorn have started eating sufficient amount of food for three times a day, I made replacements in the aquarium water. At this point in time, I change around seventy percent of aquarium water.

Now after three weeks, just a small patch of the wound is remaining and I hope this will also heal in a week’s time.
